A Working Vacation

This past weekend, my fiancé Josh and I made the journey from Philadelphia to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for five days of fun, sun and wedding planning. Although I’ve relied on the phone and internet for the bulk of my long distance wedding planning, face-to-face meetings are by far the easiest way to get things done. I planned our vacation with the hopes of tying up some loose ends, and ensuring that the coming months would be (relatively) stress free.
Our first day there was more dramatic than I would have liked, but good nonetheless. We won a free engagement photo session with DB Images. (I wrote a story about how my fiancé refused to take engagement pictures unless they were free., and low and behold, we won!) We scheduled our photo session for 5:30 PM at the beach, but mother nature had other plans. Torrential downpours, incredible lightening and 100% humidity made for less-than-stellar picture taking opportunities. Regretfully, we had to reschedule our session for Thanksgiving break. I was bummed, but the show must go on. Later that afternoon, I had my make-up trial and was extremely happy with the results– I looked glamorous without the clown-effect. After the make-up trial, we decided to grab dinner and chow down on some yummy sundaes. I SWEAR, after this it’s serious dieting & working out until wedding! ;)

My Peanut Butter Gargantuan Sundae at Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor. YUM!
The next day we woke up early to head to our next appointment – cake tasting! Last time we were in Florida, we had a disappointing tasting with a another bakery, so we walked in to this appointment with low expectations. This time we were blown away!! Lily at Edible Creations was wonderful, friendly and a joy to be around. Her cakes are UNBELIEVEBLE and her style is stunning. Together we designed a five-tier, squared edged cake in our wedding colors of chocolate brown and blush pink. I can’t wait to see the finished result!
After the cake tasting, we headed to our venue for our menu tasting. The food was also incredibly delicious and I’m so thrilled with the menu we chose – I think our guests are in for a delightful night of lovely food and music.
We spent the rest of the weekend in Orlando where we celebrated the 4th of July. It was a wonderfully productive weekend, and I can’t wait for our next trip down to Florida!

That sundae looks positively amazing.
I’m glad to hear you’re happy with your make-up trial. I’m extremely paranoid about looking like a clown at my wedding…
Thank you Elisheva!!
That sundae was incredible. I want another one, now! ;)
