My fiance and I want to build the chuppah structure.  We have some ideas, but wanted to see if anyone has already gone through the process and has some tips or a blueprint.  We are hoping to make one that stands on its own.

We're using the frame from a portable popup gazebo as the base for ours, and sewing the cover.  Given that we will only have the synagogue for a couple of hours before the ceremony, and will be getting our hair and make-up done during that time, we wanted to avoid something that required lengthy on-site construction.
